IT Services - Contract or Ad Hoc

Do you have a part time IT person whose real job is something else?

Or no-one at all?

How about getting Microchip Computers to be your IT department?

  • user and administration support
  • software and hardware installation and configuration
  • backup and security
  • user training, casual or classroom
  • security, email, internet policies
  • content filtering, anti-virus, firewall monitoring and maintenance

If your systems are not routinely monitored, how do you know when things are starting to go wrong? Until they actually break.

Troubleshooting and emergency work. Viruses, pop-ups, email problems, network problems, printing problems, logon and shutdown, etc.

Every workman knows that his tools are to be looked after. Yet, when we visit many companies, it is clear the computers have rarely, if ever been moved, certainly never cleaned inside (you would be shocked to see the amount of dust and fluff that gathers inside). Late June and July are good months to find your PC can't cool itself properly. The machine may just restart or fail to boot or hang.

We can help your staff get the best out of your IT spending. By helping them to use their tools better, help them keep the computers going longer.

Ignore your PCs at your peril!
All too often, companies come to Microchip Computers after they experienc a problem. Wouldn't it be better that a problem is found before it causes too much disruption? Routine maintenace visits from experienced IT staff can help your computers keep going longer.

Training your users and IT Admin staff
As a broad guide, your annual IT budget should be split into 4 parts:
software and hardware purchase or lease
ongoing maintenace and support
disaster recovery
training

and perhaps you should also look to providing for end-of-cycle disposal costs - we don't yet know the full impact of the WEEE directive and its consequent costs.

Policies and Procedures
Do you have Policies in place, as part of your Employee's Handbook and Contract of Employment that specify how users may use the Internet and Email from your computers? Or what content is permitted in emails? What about Security? Do you have policy on system passwords or access to files stored on the servers? All of these things should be defined in the policies that you expect your staff to comply with. If you don't have such Policies and supporting Procedures, perhaps you should speak to us.
